You do not need a technical summit to use Mount Kenya well. This route keeps you in lodges, walks the forest and the moorland by day, and finishes on Ol Pejeta where the rhinos are the point. Both stops are in central Kenya, an easy reach from Nairobi.

How the days unfold.
Day 1
Nairobi to the mountain
Drive north to a lodge on the slopes of Mount Kenya. A short forest walk if you arrive in time.

Highland trail / Another mountain day
A guided day walk on the mountain trails. You return to the lodge for dinner. This is not a summit attempt. A second trail, or a slower forest morning, then the lodge.
