A family safari is not an adult safari with smaller beds. The vehicle is private, so the guide can turn around when someone has had enough. The camp has to welcome children in the rooms and at meals. The day needs a break.
Age changes the plan
Under six, we look at private conservancies and shorter drives, sometimes with a midday pool. From about seven, a classic park works if the guide is patient and the vehicle is yours alone. Teenagers often want a walking morning or a conservancy that is not only game drives.
What we refuse to compress
Two parks in four nights with children is usually a mistake. One place, three or four nights, and a beach or a Nairobi finish gives the trip a shape they can enjoy. School-holiday dates book early. Tell us the ages before we send a proposal, including any child who is still in a lap.
